Theo Cottle’s latest film and photo series explores migration, friendship, and human perseverance
‘Justice is a 26 year old Nigerian living in Catania, Sicily. In 2016, fleeing poverty, Justice took a boat from Libya headed to Sicily. 20 of his friends didn’t survive the journey.
Justice has since made a life in Catania and has a lot of friends. As he says himself, “everyone knows me around here, believe me.”
Migrants are often impersonally portrayed in the media arriving aboard packed fluorescent boats, filmed on long lenses and followed up with statistics. Spending time with Justice and seeing how many similarities we both share really hit home for me.’
