10A at Pitti Immagine Uomo A/W ’12

.In collaboration with Crane.tv, PORT travelled to Florence to speak with 10A fashion brand co-founders Matteo Cibic and Daria Dazzan about their show ‘A Therapeutical Fashion Act’ at Pitti Immagine Uomo

Twice a year, Florence becomes a bustling hub of glamour and activity as the city plays host to Pitti Immagine Uomo, the defining menswear trade fair. Held at the Fortezza da Basso, a Renaissance era military complex built in the eighteenth century, the event is a pilgrimage for international fashion industry buyers and press, where over 1,000 brands unveil their new menswear collections, ranging from sports and casual wear to the highest-end of classic men’s tailoring.

This month, PORT and Crane.tv travelled to Florence to meet Pitti’s ‘2011 Who is on Next?’ special mention recipients and rising stars, Matteo Cibic and Daria Dazzan of 10A Suspender Trousers Company, and follow the making of the talented duo’s show ‘A Therapeutic Fashion Act’ in collaboration with Milanese luxury socks brand Marcoliani.

Already gaining notable mentions in The International Herald Tribune and Vogue , the creative pair’s designs feature high quality fabrics selected from the best Italian manufacturers to create quirky trousers hung from straps, among other more traditional garments woven with a contemporary twist.

Here, we speak to Matteo and Daria about exhibiting at Pitti, the origins of 10A and their hopes for the future, and share some highlights from Pitti and the ambient Museo di Casa Martelli at their show with a performance by Musicamorfosi where they have chosen to use music as a metaphor to represent their brand philosophy of the marriage between old and new.
