The GIF That Keeps on GIFfing

15Folds co-founder Sean Frank talks us though their debut IRL exhibition, Everything All At Once

After two years of late nights and early mornings, annexing hours between three hectic schedules to scour the Internet for the best GIF art and undiscovered artists online, we find ourselves here at our first IRL exhibition and 15Folds‘ official launch.

What started as a digital take on the surrealist parlour game Exquisite Corpse, involving friends and contemporaries in the arts, quickly evolved into a platform for the most exciting digital art on the Internet.

The best aspect of 15Folds is the diversity of our contributing artists and their work. We’ve commissioned artworks from architects and rockstars, motion graphics designers and sex columnists, from Boston to Brazil. Notable contributors include: Quentin Jones, Kim Asendorf, Reed & Radar and Karley Sciortino.

We’re an ambitious trio and we love challenges. If the exhibition goes well we’ll be looking to replicate it elsewhere – we’d like for 15Folds to become synonymous with this movement. We are riding a new wave in internet art and the possibilities are endless.

Peter Valkanoff – ‘The Escapist’

The running dude is related to the escapism in a way of modern artists, trying to detach from old form of art, looking for very different mediums to express such example is the gif. I guess you could use the word evolution in such context as it is the evolution of short moving image.

Inspired by the Evolution theme from 15Folds.

Kim Asendorf – ‘China will Save the World with a Female Army’

NSA bots have to flip faces of all female Chinese soldiers to prevent agents from fall in love. The NSA hates love.
