Photo Essay: Craig Green SS15

Photographer Agnes Lloyd-Platt visited Green backstage as he launched his first solo catwalk, showing a collection partly inspired by Asian martial art gear

London, as a menswear hub, is defined by new and exciting talent: it’s what we’re known for and what international press and buyers expect to see during London Collections: Men. The SS15 season brought us few new names but, instead, confirmed a few predications that’s been brewing for a couple of years. Arguably the best of example of this quick maturation was Craig Green, the young menswear designer that cite as LC:M’s highlight. As a former MAN designer, Green this season graduated into his own standalone show. Having earlier shown distinct frayed layering in either navy blue or colourful tie dye, the SS15 collection was dominated by white and black, with different shades of blue as accent colours. Boxy and oversized silhouettes, plus a few of Green’s characteristic wooden installations, made it a natural and coherent development when compared to previous season. A few body-con pieces added fresh blood. There was a poetic, as well as sartorial, beauty to the collection. In a city filled with teenage talent, only a few can go on to actual greatness. Craig Green is definitely one of them.
