Crisp daily papers, a good pen; other assorted paraphernalia utterly non-essential to the modern world – a stapler, an inkpad and stamp, scissors…No-one should ever be without the glow of a lamp at a desk. The light it emanates frames a space such as this so well, especially late at night, when it’s best to find some necessary calm. We all need such spaces, in one way or another.
