We premiere the track from the designer’s latest Paris show, as the SS15 menswear season comes to an end
Paul Smith showed his latest collection at Place de Bourse in a sea of green plants. Models walked round and round, to the beat of Smith’s chosen music. The actual collection and the show where it’s presented are two very different creative entities. Obviously the collection has to be good, but a good show depends on so much more than just clothes. Paul Smith knows that. The beautiful venue and the green pots and plants in combination with the music made it in to an event, as well as a showcase for his clothes. That’s what it’s all about – if not we might as well just see the clothes in a quiet and dull showroom. Creating a memorable event that sits comfortable alongside the sartorial message of the season is what Paul Smith does brilliantly. As well designing good clothes, of course.
